Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez went through one of the most difficult moments of their life when they lost their baby son at birth in April 2022. Rodriguez was pregnant with twins. During the delivery, their baby girl survived, however, their son could not make it.
In one of the trailers for her Netflix show, ‘I am Georgina’, Rodriguez says, “This year I had the best and the worst moments of my life in an instant. Life is hard. Over 40 million people follow me but no one really knows how I feel.”
In October 2021, Ronaldo announced that his partner Rodriguez is pregnant with twins. He posted a photo on Instagram with the caption, “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins. Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you. #blessed”

In April 2022, the couple released a statement about the death of their son.
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” the announcement read.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.
We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
It was a traumatic time for the Ronaldo family. He had not been involved in any soccer activities around this period as he took a break to be with his family.

Ronaldo, who himself must have been in great pain, showed great maturity in keeping his family first in all matters. In his interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said, “In life you always want to win, to do things right, but we know that is impossible. Passing through that moment was one of the most difficult moments of my life for me and my family”
Ronaldo was a Manchester United player at that point. Due to this tragic incident, he missed the match against fierce rivals Liverpool at Anfield. The Liverpool fans showed great support for Ronaldo. They proved that humanity is bigger than soccer as they applauded Ronaldo in the seventh minute of the game.
