Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been spotted at Liverpool’s academy in Kirkby, showing his support for his former club Ajax.

The Dutch side’s under-19 team were in town for a UEFA Youth League game against Liverpool. Van de Beek, who made 175 appearances for Ajax and scored 41 goals, was seen watching the game alongside former Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Van de Beek joined Manchester United in the summer of 2020 but has struggled for consistency at Old Trafford, leading to a loan move to Everton in the second half of last season. Despite his presence at the youth game, Ajax lost 3-0 to Liverpool.

The Eredivisie side will be looking to do better in the senior Champions League clash at Anfield on Tuesday evening. Ajax, who have won all their matches in the competition so far, could extend their perfect start, while Liverpool are looking to bounce back after a shocking 4-1 defeat to Napoli in their opening game.

Van de Beek was left out of Ajax’s squad for their last Champions League game, and has not played for Manchester United since their victory over Liverpool in September.
His appearance at the youth game shows his commitment to his former club and his love for the game at all levels.
