Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, expressed his anger with the officials after his team’s 1-0 loss to Brighton. Although Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister scored a last-minute penalty, Ten Hag was more frustrated with a free-kick that occurred just beforehand.

Luke Shaw had a clear handball that gave away the penalty, but Ten Hag was more upset about Shaw being adjudged to have fouled Julio Enciso, leading to a free-kick that resulted in the corner and ultimately the handball.

Ten Hag told Sky Sports, “It was a bit unlucky because it was never a free-kick before the corner. It is handball, maybe he is out of balance because of a push from the back, but I can’t see. More is my anger about the free-kick before because it was never a free-kick.”

In the second half, a number of United players became frustrated with the officials, and Ten Hag sympathized with them, saying that there were some really bad fouls that were not resulted [in fouls].
He also admitted that his team’s failure to take chances and Shaw’s late error really cost them. “We had the chances to score,” he said. “Antony dos Santos, Antony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, all great opportunities.

One has to be in. It’s about keeping focus and don’t lose the focus in the dying seconds of the game, we take that point. In the end, if you can’t win it by not taking your chances then don’t lose.
“Despite his disappointment, Ten Hag acknowledged that his team needed to be more clinical and not make such mistakes in the future. He said, “We had a talk, but it’s not about them [the officials].

We have to finish the chances, be more clinical and don’t make such mistakes as we did in the last seconds.” The loss to Brighton marked United’s third straight Premier League defeat, and Ten Hag’s frustrations with the officials suggest that he is feeling the pressure to turn things around. However, he remains confident that his team can bounce back and get back to winning ways.
