Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has become a surprise target for French club Paris Saint-Germain, who are considering a £50 million summer move for the England center-back.

Although the deal was on the table in January, there wasn’t enough time to finalize it before the window closed.

PSG is backed by Qatari petro-dollars, so they wouldn’t have any trouble matching Maguire’s £200,000 weekly wages. Despite having over two years left on his contract, the defender has become frustrated with his four-year spell at Old Trafford, and his lack of appearances under current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not helping matters.
Even though he has started only one of the last eight Premier League games, Maguire remains the club captain. He was only on the pitch for two minutes of last month’s Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle, but he still jointly lifted the trophy alongside Bruno Fernandes.
Although PSG has faced criticism for failing to recruit properly in recent transfer windows, their latest Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich has left them scrambling for defensive cover.
Despite his lack of game time for Manchester United, Maguire is expected to start for England in their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier.
